L.I.F.T. is a nonprofit organization which was founded in 1982 by Alma J. Hill in Trenton, NJ. During that time there mission was to teach teen mothers and fathers to be responsible parents, to become self-sufficient, and to be independent of welfare. L.I.F.T.’s comprehension program and services were designed to obtain that goal.

Some of those programs and services included but were not limited to teenage pregnancy prevention, parenting skills, prenatal classes and care, outreach program, tutoring program, transportation, housing, and emergency relief services. Today, L.I.F.T.’s mission is to inspire, motivate, and educate the less fortunate by teaching them the tools needed to become productive members of society.

To this end, L.I.F.T. can provide transitional housing, educational programs, medical services, group therapy, job training, and entrepreneurial skills.

L.I.F.T.’s belief is that if you give the less fortunate people exposure and education then those people who may have been drug abusers, ex-convicts, misplaced veterans, homeless, and battered women can then learn to become better individuals to their families and thus become better members in their community.
